Alissa Apter-Prodger, MSW
Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker

Alissa Apter-Prodger is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Integrated Health from California State University, Long Beach. She also ha a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychological Sciences and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance: Instrumental from Northern Arizona University.

 

Alissa has worked with adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults from diverse ethnic, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds in the mental health field for over five years. In addition to providing psychotherapy services to clients of all ages at Collaborators for Health, her clinical experience includes providing in-person and virtual individual and group therapy and psychoeducational classes to young adults, adults, and older adults with mental health complaints and co-occurring intellectual disabilities. Alissa has also provided in-person and virtual mental health individual and group counseling to middle school students and young adults and adults with social learning differences. Alissa has worked with students at a university disability resources department, individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, and individuals with body image dissatisfaction and Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorders. Issues Alissa has commonly worked with include grief and loss, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, social communication, ADHD, and academic and work concerns. Her professional interests also include trauma and relationships.

 

Alissa’s theoretical approach is eclectic, including elements of holistic, client-centered, humanistic, and strengths-based approaches. She draws from various evidence-based treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness to meet each client’s individual treatment needs. Alissa is dedicated to continuing education and keeping up to date with various evidence-based treatment modalities. She is passionate about providing safe, engaging, culturally sensitive, and therapeutic mental health treatment and personal development support to my clients to assist them in achieving their personal goals and reach their full potential.

 

Alissa was born and raised in Southern California. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, playing the violin, practicing yoga, meditating, trail running, hiking, reading, cooking, traveling, going to Disneyland, classical music concerts, museums, and botanical gardens.
